I have been a stay at home Mom for the past 5 years. This is the first time I have been away from my 10 and 5 year olds (and my husband all at the same time) for more than a night or two. The cabin was so relaxing. You thought of the tiny details that made the stay so special. Fresh baked bread, eggs, bacon, milk, cereal, etc. so you didn't have to run off the first morning of your stay to get breakfast items. I will be bragging on your cabin for a long time. I really needed the getaway. Thanks so much.

Hello, I'm Greg Dellinger, my wife and I visited Rocky Bottom Cabin and my first comment would have to be is that I did not want to return home, even though I only live an hour and half from there. After visiting many places in my years of travel I finally felt as if though I really had a vacation. The surroundings are unmatched.  I would highly recommend any couple who likes to ride there bike through the mountains and get away from the everyday stress and grind of the world to visit.  Bob ,Gail and Chipper will make you feel at home. I can't wait until my next visit.

To Bob and Gail thanks for the memories. Greg and Jayne Dellinger, Denver NC

Hi, Bob & Gail, Met you both briefly at Hank's party in Bedford and finally took a peek at your website; it's lovely. Wish I'd seen it before you left town. My grandmother was born (1887)& raised in Forest City, NC. Her ancestors arrived in Rutherford County a century before that. Her gg-grandfather received a land grant on Richardson's Creek (late 1700s) and her grandfather received a land grant in 1833 on the north fork of Floyd's Creek. She spent her adult life in Princeton, KY and Pittsburgh, but she always reminisced fondly about North Carolina. Even at 90, she still spoke with a wonderful Southern drawl. Good luck with your cabin. Hope to see you at Hank's next party. :) Lisa Goad

8-23-05 to 8-27-05 Rocky Bottom Cabin is amazing - even lovelier than the pictures. On our last day we were still finding new things to look at. The grounds were beautiful. We loved sitting on the chairs on the pond. It was so peaceful. We didn't want to leave Rocky Bottom Cabin. Bob and Gail provided for our every need. What a treat! Thank you both for your hospitality.  This is a place we will come back to … this is the most relaxing place we have ever been to … perfect for our 1st anniversary.   From the fresh bread (excellent!) to the time to leave … we enjoyed every minute … next time we’ll bring the Harley and will need some riding partners.

We absolutely loved the week we spent here… the tranquility is exactly what we wanted for our honeymoon.  We tried to experience all the things you offer, canoeing on the pond, walking in the woods, the campfire, the wildlife.  Thanks for the warm bread and the warm hospitality.  And, thanks for making this experience available to us.  P.S. For lovers of nature, this is the place to be!

Thanks for the wonderful weekend … our 24th Anniversary … it was great!   This was the first time our pup was able to roam around unleashed.  She spent most of Saturday in at the pond.  By the afternoon, the pup was calm and relaxed.  It didn”t take us near as long.  Very relaxing place you have here in the mountains.  Thanks for the fresh bread, lovely views and the hospitality … we’ll be back.

We have never had such a treat!  RBC is a most amazing retreat – beautiful and peaceful, playful too … we can’t imagine having an outdoor shower at our house near Philidelphia.  Once inside, the treats kept coming … the cabin is beautiful!   You really worked hard to anticipate our needs.  Everything you could want was here for us.  We will soon celebrate our 25th anniversary … your hospitality and RBC gave us a wonderful start on our next 25 years.  Gail, you have a wonderful flair for decorating and making people feel at home, Thanks for a perfect time,

Thank you for opening up your home to us, for your hospitality and for providing a memorable time for my husband and I upon his discharge from the USMC.  This was our first time in a cabin and I must say … this will not be the last you see us at the Rocky Bottom Cabin.  You guys have created a relaxing haven for high-strung city-slickers.  Your place should be in a travel magazine !  … I have never lodged at a place that I felt so at home  … “home away from home”.

We can’t thank you enough for our wonderful weekend at RBC.  The peace andquiet, listening to the frogs and screech owls at night were great!  We also had a ball sitting in the c reek, cooling off and relaxing.  You have done an incredible job with the cabin and you are also a perfect example of what true southern hospitality should be.  I don’t think we’ve ever felt so welcome anywhere as we did with you, thanks for that! …

Rest assured, we’ll be back (with the pups)

We have been looking for a place close by where we can go hide and relax for a bit.  This has been very good.  The quiet, the sound of water over the rocks in the creek made it restful.  We needed that.  Thank you for the delicious bread and everything.  We will look forward to returning when we need this again.

Even a week was too short.  The cabin and property were perfect.  It’s obvious how much love and hard work you have put into this place.  It’s been so nice to relax in such a beautiful place.

Your hospitality made it a vacation to always remember.  I got to spen time in the mountains … Ernie got to fly and Toby got to run.  We wouldn’t ask for more.  We’ll be back.

Thank you,

Ernie, Debbie and Toby

6/22/2005  Beth and Bill                 Mineral, Virginia

We cannot thank you enough for letting us use your cabin – we have not been this relaxed in longer than we can remember.  All of the work and attention that the two of you put in to making the stay so enjoyable is very much appreciated.  Our favorite spot was sitting on the deck in the early morning or late at night and enjoying the sound of the creek and watching the deer and turkeys.

Gail, thank you for the wonderful bread, it was hardly done before we were slicing it up and enjoying!  We will be back next year  - but this time for an entire week.  Thank You!!

Beth and Bill

Thank you so much for letting us use your cabin for our honeymoon.  It was special to be so far away from other people and yet be close enough to visit the tourist attractions around the area.  We enjoyed wading in the creek … and relaxing on the porch swing afterwards.  Hope we can visit again in the future.

Wonderful place to stay!  Perfect spot for Anniversary number two. The cabin is more like a piece of art than a place to stay ... very relaxing and plenty of things to see and do within a leisurely 45 minute drive.  Brown Mountain really tired us out after 20 miles on the 4 wheeler. We will  be back.

Thank you so much for such a great weekend! Everything was perfect! We couldn't have asked for anything more! The only thing that would have made it better, was if we could have stayed longer. You will definitely hear from us again ... don't change a thing.

Thank you so much for your hospitality,

Josh and Deanne

Memories are made of this ... fireflies, butterflies, whipporwills, hummingbirds and a babbling brook  ... Homemade warm bread ... what a life!!!  Your cabin is terrific and reflection of its hosts.  We want to share RBC with everyone but also want to keep it a secret and be selfish.  The patter of the rain on the roof has just started ... what a delightful conclusion.   John an I hope to return to just be together and share each other.  The "tub and shower" are a stroke of genius.

Hugs and Kisses,

John and Jean

Beautiful!  The only way this place can be described. It was the perfect place to relax and get away from it all.  Brittany said it was her best birthday ever ...

Thanks again,

Jason and Brittany

What a great place!   Our  only regret is not spending more time at the cabin ... we were lured away by the spectacles of this region.  But it was all good!

You thought of everything ... anticipated all our needs and wishes ... right down to the homemade bread, Coronas and chocolates.  Beautifully done ... everything!  The best was the shower ... that became quite addictive.

And we enjoyed seeing Chipper frolic on the property. We would love to come back some day ...

Thanks for everything, it was total perfection.

In addition to the great hosts and lovely accommodations, there are two things we'll always remember when we think of RBC ... the sounds of the whipporwills and the running water.  What better ways to start and end the day!

Thank you for your caring manner and attention to details ... Hope to see you all again in the fall.

With warm regards,

Ginny and Dick

The RBC ... Nowhere better to become preoccupied with what counts ... the beautiful scenery, great roads, good friends and life in general!

This is our second trip here with many more to come ... We had a great dinner with our wonderful neighbors ... We can hardly wait to return ... your timing with the beer the other night was impeccable ... you guys will just stop at nothing to keep your guests happy!

5/10/2003  Jon and LaShandra   Denver, NC

This weekend that LaShandra and I spent at the RBC has been one of the most memorable weekends of all of our vacations, including Coszumel, Jamaica and Italy. The quiet seclusion of the countryside setting really allowed my wife and I time to re-connect ... one on one. And the hospitality Gail and you showed was second to none.  The attention to detail that went into the beautiful cabin shows over and over.  Although we forgot a number of personal items, we wanted for nothing at RBC ... It was all there!  By far, you both were the most personable, friendly and fun hosts that we've ever experienced!  I wouldn't change a thing  about your beautiful getaway ...

Thanks Again,

Jon And LaShandra

Thank you for your very kind hospitality ... you made our stay extremely pleasurable.  We enjoyed the warmth and serenity that your quiet, charming, adorable, cozy and tastefully decorated cottage had to offer.  It is a great place to chill.  A home away from home.

You two were too generous, that will not be forgotten.  It is good to know that people like you are still around ... we will be visiting many times and we will keep in touch.

Thanks again,

Bob and Gail, Thank you for sharing your little piece of heaven with us.  We loved every relaxing moment!  The tub was worth every penny!  We will definitely be back this summer on our bikes.  Plan a ride for the four of us.  Make sure you look Marty and I up when you're in Charlotte. Thank you for everything! What an experience. If you ever want to sell the place, look us up first!!

Love to you and Chipper too.

Bob and Gail,  Our short stay at at the RBC was by far the most memorable. We know we will definitely be back this year, not only for the N.C. landscape, but for the two special people we now call our friends.  The Rocky Bottom Cabin is perfect ... we wouldn't change a thing.  Oh by the way, the tub was an experience never to be forgotten and when we see you in the summer we definitely will be keeping the rubber side down and the chrome side up.

Your friends,

Gil and Tina
